Dear Friends and Readers and Those Who Wander —

Well, it's the end of 2011 and it's hard to realize that another year has gone by, seemingly with even greater speed than the last. Over here at Camp Frank it has been a wild and wooly year.

My son William came home from Charleston to New Jersey to celebrate Christmas and last night he summed it up quite nicely. He said, "Can you believe it was just one year ago this very same week that I was graduating from the College of Charleston, you were my commencement speaker and now I've just finished my first semester of law school?" It took my breath away to consider the changes in his life and in him. Life is flying by and I have to remind myself all the time to savor each moment before they are relegated to the past.

And what of the book business and E-books and all the noise about how the book is dead? Well, I say phooey to that. There is absolutely no proof that the entire world is trending to E-books. I think they're brilliant for travel but not so great when I really want to sink into a book and mark up the margins and smell the leather. And maybe, just maybe, they are a bit of a fad and a gimmick. I predict many will tire of them if for no other reason than it's just one more thing to remember to plug in at the end of the day. That said, I prefer the Nook. Although we own Kindles and IPads too.

So other than time flying and recharging our gadgets and all the other shocking realities of 21st century life, I'm using these next few weeks as a time to enjoy and reflect on all the blessings of my life. And in doing so, I send you all mighty wishes for peace, prosperity and good health along with my profound thanks for your generous support, words and gestures, especially when I am traveling and you magically appear at a book signing with cookies. Thank you one and all for a wonderful year.
